912 Head Removal Continued..........
7) Next remove the rocker covers. Be prepared for some oil spillage as oil tends to collect at the rear of the cam housings, especially on the exhaust cam housing due to its angle. It's also a good idea to move the windscreen washer bottle and coolant top-up tank for access to the lower cam housing. There are 3 10mm nuts which secure the top-up tank under the wheel arch.

8) Next you need to remove the cam housings. This is very straight forward. Undo the 10 nuts on each housing working from the inside out, in a diagonal pattern. Turn each nut a 1/4 turn and then a half turn. After that finish undoing all the nuts until the housing comes away. On newer engines there is no gasket, but a bead of permabond.
9) At this point I tried, in vain, to remove the inlet manifold. It will have to come off at some point, but it is not necessary before you remove the head.
